2020 - Where YOU should eat in Delray Beach, Florida
2020 has been a year of uncertainty and changes, big changes. One of those changes for Gabi and I was transplanting from West coast to East coast, LA to Delray Beach FL. With this change of coasts and cultures comes a new food scene across all of South Florida, but in particular in our little beach town of Delray.
Having been in the area for 1 month, we have done our fair share of eating out, and exploring what the area has to offer. Between reading articles, watching youtube, and doing a bit of R&D of our own, these are the top 5 places you should Eat and Drink in Delray Beach right now. (And a few tips on where to avoid)
1. Papas Tapas - This was our first meal out in Delray, and we are so grateful it was! As soon as we walked in and sat we were greeted by the bar tender who gave us great service throughout the meal. Helpful but not hovering. From there, the food was fabulous, I mean truly delicious Spanish lunch plates and tapas. My favorite on the day was somewhat traditional with a perfectly marinated and cooked skirt steak with chimichurri. High quality ingredients, extemly authentic and chef knows what she is doing; definitely come check these guys out!
2. Dada - The most talked about restaurant in the area, and for good reason. If you like dining in your backyard with friends, lit by string lights, eating beautiful food then this is your vibe. Constructed from an old home on a beautiful corner lot with a large front yard and large luscious trees, this is one of those very special environments to eat. The food was comparable to a good restaurant in LA, which is exactly what I needed. There is a chef back there doing something right!
3. El Camino - Great indoor//Outdoor mexican spot just off Atlantic, with good music and high energy. We came for Happy Hour and scored some great food and drink deals: $5 Margs/Wine/Spirits, $4 Drafts, $3 Tacos/Tamales/Dillas . Between the 3 of us there we tried all 6 types of Margs, and they were all delicious in there own ways, my 2 favorites were the Cucumber with Mezcal, and the Beet with Patron Reposado
4. Hawkers Asian Street Food - This has become one of our go to’s. Great flavors and unique dishes make this spot easy to enjoy on a date or with a group. Like actual street food, dishes are on the smaller side and great for sharing. Our best on the night were the Char Siu (pork should w/ sweet soy), Pork Belly Bao Buns and Green Papaya & Shrimp Salad!
5. Yama Sushi - There are a handful of Sushi options in the area but this is where I have found the best value for money. They have a solid happy hour for both food and drinks, as well as reasonable prices Nigiri and rolls. Overall really enjoyed our meal here, and the staff was great!
